Cocoa - Blood Orange - Black Tea - Coconut

Jas Nicoll (a member of a French group looking for agricultural opportunities in East Africa after World War 2) set up Socfinaf (a company / co-op holding coffee farms in the area) in 1950. That same year the company acquired its first two farms, Mchana Estate being the second. Shortly after, two more farms were acquired and the four of them were grouped into one plantation which was named Mchana estate (Mchana was already the largest of the 4 so they just kept the name).

This lot has all the hallmarks of a classic Kenya coffee - bright, sweet, jammy and complex. We taste blood orange, orange marmalade, black tea with honey, and interestingly enough some subtle coconut flavors. The coffee sweetens a ton as it cools and it’s really an enjoyable cup at any temperature.
